Homemade Vanilla Coffee Creamer (Ready in 10 Minutes!)

Homemade Vanilla Coffee Creamer (Ready in 10 Minutes!)

There are two things I almost never skip in the morning: making breakfast for my family and pouring that first cup of coffee.

When I first became a mom, coffee wasn't just a treat anymore—it became a necessity! But after a while, I noticed that the store-bought creamers I loved started upsetting my stomach. I looked into lactose-free and almond milk creamers, but with how many cups of coffee I was drinking as a sleep-deprived new mom, they just weren't budget-friendly.

So, like many moms do, I headed to Pinterest.

After trying a few recipes, I realized that a delicious homemade coffee creamer only takes a handful of ingredients that I almost always have in my kitchen. It's simple, customizable, and takes less time to make than it does to finish cooking breakfast.

Homemade Vanilla Coffee Creamer Recipe

Ingredients

- 1 cup brown sugar

- 1/2 cup granulated sugar

- 1 cup water

- 1/2 cup half-and-half

- 1/2 cup milk

- 1–2 tablespoons vanilla extract

Directions

1. Add the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and water to a small saucepan.

2. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugars have completely dissolved.

3. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool for 1–2 minutes.

4. Stir in the half-and-half, milk, and vanilla extract.

5. Allow the creamer to cool completely before pouring it into a jar or airtight container. Store it in the refrigerator.

Make It Your Own

One of my favorite things about this recipe is how forgiving it is.

Ran out of half-and-half? I've substituted all milk plenty of times, and it still tastes great.

Want it a little less sweet? You can leave out the granulated sugar altogether. I personally keep it in because I like my coffee sweet enough that I don't have to add extra sugar every morning.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to flavors! Try adding:

- Cocoa powder for a mocha creamer

- Pumpkin pie filling or pumpkin purée for a cozy fall version

- Cinnamon and nutmeg for a warm spice blend

- Maple syrup for a rich maple flavor

- White chocolate for a sweet dessert-inspired coffee

Feel free to experiment with whatever sounds good—you might just discover your new favorite.

Why I Love Making Homemade Creamer

I usually make a fresh batch while I'm cooking breakfast. By the time I've fried an egg or made the kids something to eat, my creamer is finished and ready to cool.

It takes about 5–10 minutes, costs much less than buying specialty creamers, and I know exactly what's going into it.

Since this recipe contains dairy, I recommend using it within one week and giving it a good shake before each use.

Sometimes the simplest recipes become the ones we make over and over again. This homemade creamer has become one of those little kitchen staples in our house, and I hope it becomes one in yours too.

If you give it a try or come up with a fun new flavor, I'd love to hear about it! Happy brewing!
